All About IELTS Exam 2022



IELTS is an English Language Exam that is required to be taken by the international students if the student is considering studying or working in a country where English is considered as the main language of communication. Most of the countries that accept IELTS are:

· NEWS-ZELAND

The test basically measures your ability of the test taker and how he communications in four basic English language skills- Listening, Reading and Writing, Speaking

Listening

4 Sections, 40 dialogues

40 minutes

Reading

3 texts, 40 questions

Writing

2 tasks (150 and 250words)

Types of IELTS:

There are 2 types of IELTS exam: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Two sections are in both the tests i.e- Listening and Speaking, however for the writing and reading sections are different depending on which test one takes. Reading, Listening and Writing sections are completed on the same day of the test with no breaks in between, Speaking can be completed either in a week or after the other tests are done.

IELTS General Test:

The IELTS General Test is taken by those who wish to migrate to major English-speaking countries like Canada, Australia, and the UK. It is also taken by those who wish to enroll in training programs or secondary education or who wish to gain work experience in other countries.

The IELTS Academic test

The IELTS Academic Test is taken by international students and professionals seeking higher education or professional registration.

IELTS Eligibility

The IELTS test is open to anyone irrespective of age, gender, race, nationality, or religious affiliation, however, under 16 year old students should not take the test.

IELTS Registration

During the registration process, make sure to have your passport handy as you will need it to register. Apart from this, you will also need it on the test day. IELTS Registration is an easy process that involves the following steps:

  1. Firstly, you need to register with the British Council.
  2. Secondly, find your closest test center.
  3. Lastly, you need to register for the IELTS test and pay online.

Parents or guardians must book the test on behalf of those who are under 18 years old. Once your registration is complete, your test center will send you a written confirmation informing you the date and time of your IELTS test.

IELTS Exam Fees

Registrar's fee for the IELTS exam is Rs. 14,700 starting on the 11th of July 2021.

IELTS Exam Pattern and Syllabus

To score well on the IELTS test, it is important for candidates to know the IELTS Pattern and Syllabus in detail. The IELTS syllabus includes four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. The candidate  get marked on these four sections and get the IELTS total score as well. IELTS candidates know how to approach each section. A total score is derived by adding the four sections' scores. Testing lasts for 2 hours, 45 minutes.

How to get your IELTS Exam Result?

As soon as you have completed the IELTS, you will have to wait for the results. Results of these exams are usually announced within a fortnight. When you have given the computer-based exam, you will receive your results within 3-5 days or within a week.

· Online Mode:  Candidates will receive their results within 3-5 days of taking computer-delivered tests. On the day of your result, you will receive a notification from your Test Center about your results.  If you have an ID, password, passport number, and your test date, you can access your results online. You will be able to access your results online for 28 days from the time your results are declared.

· Offline Mode : The results of offline or paper-based tests will be delivered to you within 13 calendar days from the day of the test
