10 Tips to Ace the GRE In 1st Attempt

GRE- The Graduate Record Examination is an important part of the graduate school or business school application process. The GRE is a computer-based, standardized multiple-choice exam that is essentially required for admission to graduate schools and MBA programs around the world.

The GRE is a six-part computer-based adaptive test that evaluates verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing abilities. The GRE has a completely different scoring method from our school/college exams.

Simple, medium and difficult questions make up the first section of the Math/Verbal section. Based on the number of correct answers in the first segment, a student advances to the second section, which is either hard, medium, or easy. To get a high GRE score, the student should go on to a more challenging section first and answer the tough questions correctly.

Some of the ways by which you can ace the GRE are-

1. Practice regularly – develop a habit to practice each section every single day.

2.  Full-length tests regularly – Practicing on a limited set of questions isn't enough to win the game. The actual test is based on completing the whole mock test to determine your progress. If you only have limited time till your GRE, a test every weekend is a must.

3. Keep a detailed record of all your errors.

4. Timed practice - You must practice with the Timer at all times.

5.  Creating a study plan- students should create a timetable that suits them the most.

6.  Mock tests- one of the key components in the GRE preparation is attempting as many mock tests as you can. Attempting mock tests will build your confidence and will help you in analyzing your strengths and weaknesses.

7.  Taking a GRE Preparation Course. While practicing on your own might be helpful, you may want to consider enrolling in a GRE prep course to receive feedback on your progress that will help you stay on track with your study objectives. GRE course will also give you access to GRE study materials and GRE test series which will benefit you a lot.

8.  Avoid spending too much time on one particular section.

9.  Start focussing on the vocabulary from day one of the GRE preparation.

10. Take out time for your hobbies- It will help you to get refreshed and you will be able to focus and work more energetically towards achieving your goals.

There are two ways to take the GRE preparation: one is to take online GRE coaching, and the other is to take live GRE classes. Both the techniques are equally beneficial, it depends on the needs and convenience of the student. Some students may find online GRE preparation better while others may choose live classes.
