Road to IELTS: Things to Consider Before Embarking on This Journey

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an English language proficiency test. The test consists of four sections: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. This exam is created to analyze a candidate's basic knowledge of the English language.

There are two types of IELTS:

a) IELTS Academic: This exam is for those candidates who wish to apply for higher education or professional enrollment in countries where English is the primary language. The purpose of this exam is to find out whether a candidate is ready to start studying and training in English or not. Countries like the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia widely accept IELTS Academic.

b) IELTS General Training: This exam focuses on a candidate's basic survival skills in a broad social and workplace environment. It is for those who wish to apply for secondary education, programs, job experience, or training in English- speaking countries such as Australia, New Zealand, the US, UK, and Canada.

The listening and the speaking sections are the same for both the exams while the reading and writing sections are varying for Academic and General Training.
