How to Increase SAT Math Score

If you are preparing for the SAT and desperately planning to increase your SAT Math score, here are some good tips:

The first and the foremost step to improve your SAT score is to be consistent in your SAT prep. There should not be any break in your preparation. It is very important to do a self-analysis after every SAT mock test. To do a strong analysis of your tests maintain an error log from your previous SAT mock tests. You can use Microsoft Excel to save it.

Based on the error log, identify the gaps, and work out a study plan to fix those gaps. Don’t try to fix everything after the first test itself. Set a realistic target after every test and work towards it and take another SAT mock test and see have you achieved your target as per plan or not? Then again set a new target and make a new plan for the next test.

If you are making mistakes in particular topics, then learn the concepts of the topic thoroughly and practice more drills for that topic. Work out the study plan for 2-3 topics before every test and note the improvement on those topics while reviewing the test. You can also refer to the SAT syllabus for the topics tested on the SAT.

If you are making mistakes on the SAT because of the application of strategies/techniques then identify those and practice those techniques until you gain confidence in that technique. While doing SAT online prep, make sure to practice topic-wise and technique-wise drills with a different difficulty level (Easy, Medium, and Hard). Plan your strategies following the experience from previous tests.

If there are pacing issues it means you are spending more time on hard questions, so pick the questions wisely that can be answered quickly and accurately and look for the techniques/Strategy to be applied to such questions. Use Letter of The Day for hard questions. If you are not sure about a question, don’t waste time on those questions. Work in bite-sized pieces for word problems and lengthy questions. Use Calculator only if you set up the paper and read the questions carefully

If you are making careless errors or getting trapped then know how tricky the SAT questions are and learn to get rid of traps. Before you mark your answer to a question, Re-read the question carefully.

So expect a step by step improvement after every test and set realistic targets for the subsequent tests and work towards achieving it. For example, if you have scored a 500 on the SAT Math section of the test, then set a target of 550 for the next test. Finally, tweak your study plans accordingly.

Make use of the above suggestions and work hard to achieve your dream score.

ALL THE BEST
